During World War I, two young, British Privates are given the impossible task to go behind enemy lines in northern France to deliver a message of warning. The message they carry holds the fate of thousands of British soldiers who are otherwise walking into a trap.

Based in part on the account told to writer/director Sam Mendes by his own grandfather, this film is a gritty tale of the “war to end all wars.” It stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, George MacKay (Captain Fantastic), and Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones). This is Sam Mendes (Skyfall, The Road to Perdition, American Beauty) first official writing credit.
