A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

In 1998, a jaded journalist, Tom Junod, is assigned to profile Fred Rogers, also known as beloved children’s television host, Mr. Rogers. In this true story of an unlikely friendship, Junod overcomes his cynicism, and learns about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s favorite neighbor.

Inspired by the resulting article from Esquire magazine, the film stars Tom Hanks and Matthew Rhys (The Americans). Fred Rogers’ wife thought this casting was perfect as her husband loved Tom Hanks. Ten years in the making, this film shows that we could all use a little kindness.
