Arthur Fleck is a man disregarded by society. A failed stand up comedian, Fleck is deeply damaged by the world’s cruelty and his lack of place. As the pressure piles on, his psychology begins to warp into a criminal nature. Turned into a clown by those around him, he chooses to embrace that identity and becomes one of the most notorious villains in Gotham.

The film is the origin story of The Joker, one of Batman’s most well known enemies. A character that has been played by 14 different actors and voice actors, this time Joaquin Phoenix stars in a re-telling of this oft-told tale – one that asks if villains are born, or if they are made. Put on a happy face.
